I am Pixyboots

The pandemic and the birth of my child in 2020 made me reflect a lot about life, death, and my bucket list. That period led me to transform my former film distribution company into a more personal creative space,

focusing on the creation of art and film.

My love of drawing began at four. From every morning before sunrise to bedtime, I filled recycled Singapore Airlines A4 paper with manga heroines, Hans Christian Andersen's princesses, and characters from Chinese historical dramas. My parents' living room became my first studio, where I spent thousands of hours drawing.

At sixteen, I decided to become a film director. After earning degrees in Japanese Studies, Sociology, and Film & TV, I spent two decades in film production, events, management, and distribution before finally directing my first short film, GONG, which premiered at FANTASPOA 2025 and competed for the Méliès d’Argent Best Short Film Award.

Today, I am studying full‑time at Einar Granum College of Fine Art in Oslo.

I am also Festival Director for the inaugural Singapore Nordic Film Festival in 2025.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Do You Know?

The name "PIXYBOOTS" came about because

a wonderful friend from England loved to call me "PIXY"

and on a cold winter day, he gave me furry boots

and chanted "PIXY BOOTS, PIXY BOOTS".

In memory of David Passes

the finest, most magical and creative person and manifestor in the world.
